A PROJECT TO UPLIFT BRILLIANT STUDENTS FROM ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED BACKGROUNDS

ISSUE & SOLUTION

Many academically brilliant and talented students from economically backward families are deprived of quality education and guidance that would enable them to secure admission in premier institutes such as IITs, NITs and other prestigious colleges due to the obvious reason of not being able to afford enrolling in entrance exam preparation centers.

Providing high quality education to such talented and competent students and contributing towards uplifting them.

OUR PLAN

Set up a system where every year 30 selected students from the state will be given 100% free exam-preparation training that prepares them for the entrance examination for admission to IITs, NITs and other Premier Engineering and Medical Colleges. All the students will be provided free boarding and lodging so that they are free from all other encumbrances and will be available for academic training through the day.

BENIFITS

Students from economically challenged backgrounds will be able to find respectable employment and make a primary impact on the economic situation of their respective families.

Such students will also become a source of inspiration to other students to strive and make similar achievements and uplift themselves economically and socially.

As a corollary effect, it is expected that a new talent pool will get created and the state and the country will benefit greatly by having such talented and potential individuals at hand.

SELECTION PROCESS

The top thirty students from the state will be identified on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. Their score at the +2 examination
  2. Family income
  3. Their score at an entrance examination conducted by One-Up.

The final selection will be made by a committee consisting of sponsors, Lion District representative and One-Up, the Learning Centre located at Kuthuparamba, who will be managing the project, after considering all the above three criteria.

PROJECT ADMINISTRATION

Coaching

The coaching for the competitive examinations will be offered at the ONE-UP coaching centre at Kuthuparamba

Faculty

The team of faculty of One-Up Centre that consists of hand-picked highly experienced academics will be delivering the academic sessions.

Methodology

Considering the prevailing pandemic situation, the training will be delivered online using highly interactive technology until on-ground training is possible.

Day-to-day administration

The project will be directly administered and managed by One-Up – A Learning Centre, based out of Kuthuparamaba.

OUR HISTORY AND EXPERIENCE

For the first 17 years One-Up was functioning under the banner of Mambaram Educational Centre (MEC). In 2019, Rani Jai Higher Secondary School, Nirmalagiri, in Kannur District chose MEC to provide integrated education to their Plus-Two students, combining Plus-Two instruction and Pre-Medical/Engineering coaching. Since then MEC was renamed as One-Up. The centre has a team of highly experienced and competent faculty who have been instrumental in achieving creditable results both at the Higher Secondary Examinations and the Entrance Examinations.
